San Gregorio State Beach has a gradual slop out to sea with fine silty sand which holds moisture well. This makes for exceptional reflections of the landscape. On this winter evening, I composed the bluffs and coastline near the middle of the frame to include as much sky and reflection as I could. The sweep of the Pacific ocean made its way up the beach in this particular photo.
San Gregorio State Beach is located along an open stretch of coast just off Highway 1 and about ten miles south of Half Moon Bay. At sunset, the bluffs can glow a golden yellow. A seasonal creek often flows out to the Pacific ocean as beach goers enjoy the view.
The sun sets along the rocky shores of Pescadero State Beach in San Mateo County. The ocean waves mingled amongst the cobble stones as the golden light reflects off their wet surfaces.
