This coastal landscape image was made in the Marin Headlands at Rodeo Beach during a December storm as it broke at sunset. I made several images this evening and this is the first I edited. There is a color version of this as well.
A brief stay in Mendocino led me out to the headlands where I knew I wanted to phootgraph this pyramid shaped rock with the arcing bluffs surrounding it. The sunset was more of a large, slowly moving fog bank, so I used a long exposure to smooth the ocean and allow the natural symmetry to be showcased.
The rocky shore of Pacific Grove near Monterey offer a ton of possibilities for seascape photography. This is a black and white image from my first time here.
