After camping nearby, I awoke to a clear yet calm morning up in the John Muir Wilderness. The lake was as smooth as glass and the reflections of the craggy granite of Picture Peak were simply beautiful.
The trees here will be gone someday soon. The Boardman tree farm will give way to cows and irrigation crops. I am grateful for being able to see it in its fall color beauty at least once in my life.
Large gorgonian sea fans, a type of colonial cnidarian, filter feed the nutrient rich waters off the tropical island of Couzmel. This reef system is one of the most beautiful along the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
