Moonbows, or lunar rainbows, can form when the angle of the moon is just right. During the spring run off in Yosemite Valley, moonbows can form at upper and lower Yosemite Falls. Here, the base of Upper Yosemite Falls is photographed at night under a clear, starry night sky.
Often when it is mid-day, I will look for areas in the shade with even light and photograph small scenes with my telephoto lens such as this cascade below Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park.
